Joel & Renata Burnell
In 1981 Joel came to Poland to serve with Campus Crusade for Christ. Soon he met and married Renata, who joined him in ministry. Since 1993 they have worked at the Evangelical School of Theology in Wroclaw, where Joel teaches theology and ethics. He is also the director of the Jonathan Edwards Center – Poland and takes an active role in the International Bonhoeffer Society. This past year Joel initiated a new EST program, the School of Christian Apologetics. The Burnells worship at New Hope Fellowship, where they co-lead an adult home group. Joel is a member of the church Board while Renata is active in children’s and women’s ministry. Renata is a member of the Polish Society of Christian Psychologists, and her studies in Christian counseling at Western Seminary have enhanced her role as a mentor, coach and counselor. Since 1995 the Burnells have served with WorldVenture. They have three children, Daniel, Erik and Amelia.
