Luke & Mindy Balash
Young Life strives to build positive relationships with young people in an unstable world, existing to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith.
Young Life “C’s” of ministry:
- Club: A weekly gathering open to all youth where the gospel is shared
- Camp: YL operates several one-week camps where youth go to hear more about how the Good News can change their lives.
- Campaigners: A discipleship program for those in the Christian faith
- Contact work: Staff and volunteers meet up with students regularly
- Committee: A local group of adults championing the local YL ministry
Young Life reaches out at Lathrop, West Valley and Eielson High Schools. Club meetings are held in a home or business – around 150 youth attend.
Luke Balash has been the area director of Young Life since February 2007. He grew up in the Fairbanks area, graduating from Ben Eielson High School. Luke and Mindy have been married since 2005. Mindy is a nurse at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and has been a Young Life volunteer leader for six years.
