Online Giving FAQ
Questions & Answers
Are there any fees involved with online giving?
Yes, but not to you. You select the dollar amount for your gift, and that dollar amount will be recognized as your donation. You incur no additional costs or fees. Bethel Church pays approximately 3% of each contribution made by Visa or MasterCard for card processing services. You may want to consider increasing your online giving amount by 3% to help offset the card processing costs.
If Bethel Church wants to help people get out of debt, why is the use of credit card giving accepted?
Debit and credit cards can be an efficient tool for payments and purchases. Many people use them in place of a check or cash, then payoff the balance in full each month. For these people, we offer the option of using a debit or credit card for giving. Bethel Church believes and teaches that living "debt free" should be an important financial goal for all Christians. We recommend and encourage the use of electronic funds transfer (EFT) from a checking account* rather than a credit card. Although many pay off their credit cards each month, many others don't. We don't want to encourage anyone to go into debt and pay interest on any gifts given to the church. *EFTs are preferred due to lower processing costs than cards.
Why is online giving a good idea?
Giving online turns your intentions into reality with ease. After prayers, decide whether your desire is to make a one-time or recurring contribution. You don't have to remember to write out a check each Sunday or each month, or remember to mail it or drop it off when you're gone for an extended period. It's all entirely confidential. Giving online is a personal preference. Here are a few reasons online giving may be a benefit to you:
If I want to set-up a recurring contribution, what are my options for the frequency of my gift?
Your scheduled contribution can be made one-time, weekly, every other week, monthly, quarterly, or yearly.
Once I set up a scheduled contribution, can I change it or delete it?
Yes, Once you log into your account, you would select the "Scheduled Giving" tab. In "Scheduled Giving", you can disable your scheduled contribution, change the f regency, amount, banking information, or date. Once the contribution has been processed, however, it cannot be canceled.
I am not a regular attender or member, but I would like to make a contribution. Can I use Online Giving?
Yes. If you don't want to create an account you can click the Online Giving "Quick Give" button.
How will I know that I set up my gift correctly?
Immediately after submitting your contribution, you will receive an email verifying your contribution.
When will contributions be taken from my account?
Contributions will be taken from your specified bank account within 48 business hours of the date you requested. This time frame allows the contribution to process through your bank and the church's bank. If the date of your contribution falls on a weekend or a holiday, the transactions will be initiated on the next business day.
How can I get a receipt of my online contribution?
You may print your Giving History page from your Online Giving account as a valid receipt. Your Online Giving gifts will also be included in your year-end contribution statement.
Will I still receive regular contribution statements from the church?
Yes. The church will continue to send year-end contribution statements to your e-mail or physical address to keep on file for tax purposes.
What payment methods can I use when giving online?
You can use a credit card, debit card, or electronics funds transfer (EFT)* from your checking account. *EFTs are preferred due to lower processing costs than cards.
